Viet Capital Education, an investment fund managed by Viet Capital Asset Management (VCAM) with its track record of investing in private education institutions in Vietnam, has partnered with Uppingham School, a top-ranking boarding school from the United Kingdom, to develop Uppingham Vietnam.

Viet Capital Education, an investment fund managed by Viet Capital Asset Management (VCAM) with its track record of investing in private education institutions in Vietnam, has partnered with Uppingham School, a top-ranking boarding school from the United Kingdom, to develop Uppingham Vietnam. Uppingham Vietnam will be the first purpose-built branded school with full boarding facilities in the country and will open in 2023.
Founded in 1584, Uppingham (UK) is rich in history, and has always been forward thinking in its outlook. Edward Thring, the School’s renowned Victorian Headmaster believed pupils should be given the opportunity to succeed in any area of life, pioneering the introduction of music, sport, and wellbeing in British school life. Today, under the leadership of Dr. Richard Maloney, Thring’s philosophy remains at the heart of Uppingham’s ethos as the School prepares pupils for success in the 21st Century and encourages them to pursue their passions.

At Uppingham Vietnam, students will have the choice to be day students, weekday boarders or full boarders. Just like at its UK counterpart, boarding houses at Uppingham Vietnam will be designed to be family-like, and campus life will be enriched with co-curricular opportunities influenced by the successful co-curricular programme in place at Uppingham(UK), which includes sports, music, and the arts.
Uppingham Vietnam will be a co-educational school with pupils from 11 to 18. The academic programme will be made up of three stages - Lower Secondary, Upper Secondary (with IGCSEs) and Advanced Levels. The School will offer students a journey where pupils can forge their own path and prepare them for success as they go on to university. In addition, all students will experience state-of-the-art classrooms, art and science buildings, gymnasium, pool, and football sports pitches, giving students an opportunity for the best all round education experience in South-East Asia.

The partnership between Uppingham School (UK) and Viet Capital Education, was formalised at a ceremony on November 19th, 2021.Connected via a virtual video link contracts were signed simultaneously in Uppingham and Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam's Ambassador to the UK, Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long, visited Uppingham to witness the ceremony, which was followed by a tour of the School. The delegation from Viet Capital Education was kindly invited to the British Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City for their ceremony.
Addressing the signing ceremony, Ambassador Long affirmed that education is one of the most important pillars in cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Long said: “This pioneering project will provide Vietnamese students with more opportunities to access high quality and UK accredited education programmes in their home country.
“So far, the Vietnam – UK cooperation of university level has been strongly developed. As children are the future of our nation, our cooperation at the school level will help us to build a strong nation and a strong world with the values and responsibilities of global citizens.”
Her Majesty's Ambassador to Vietnam, Ambassador Gareth Ward commented: I’m very pleased that education sits at the heart of the UK-Vietnam relationship, and it’s rightly including as a key pillar of our Strategic Partnership, which the governments of the UK and Vietnam refreshed last year.
