Job Description
Job Purpose
The Head of Key Stage 3 Pastoral Care is a key middle leadership position within the founding Senior School at Uppingham Hung Yen. Reporting directly to the Head of Senior School, the postholder will be responsible for leading the pastoral provision for students in Years 7–9, ensuring that every student experiences outstanding care, support, guidance, and challenge as they transition from primary into secondary education.
As a founding member of the Senior School leadership team, the successful candidate will play a central role in establishing the pastoral culture, systems, routines, and traditions that will underpin the future growth of the school from its initial Year 7–9 intake to a full Year 7–13 provision. Working closely with tutors, teaching staff, inclusion specialists, safeguarding leads and parents, the Head of KS3 Pastoral Care will promote high standards of wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding, and student engagement, ensuring that students thrive both personally and academically.
The role offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious and talented pastoral leader to shape the student experience from the outset and contribute significantly to the development of the Senior School. As the school grows, there is potential for the successful candidate to progress into the position of Head of Senior School Pastoral Care, providing strategic leadership of pastoral care, wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and personal development across Years 7–13.
The successful candidate will champion the values of Uppingham Hung Yen and support students in developing the character, resilience, compassion, and leadership qualities that will enable them to flourish within school and beyond. As boarding provision develops, the postholder will also contribute to ensuring a seamless and supportive pastoral experience for both day and boarding students.
Closing date for applications is 17:00 ICT on 30th November 2026.
