Hanoi, Sunday, 22 March 2026

Uppingham Hung Yen warmly welcomed partners and families to “The Heritage and Leadership Introduction,” an event marking the arrival of a distinguished British educational tradition with more than 440 years of history in Vietnam. The occasion provided a comprehensive insight into the school’s philosophy, where academic excellence is balanced with the development of character, responsibility, and a strong sense of community.

The programme began with a keynote presentation by Dr Richard Maloney, Headmaster of Uppingham School in the UK. He introduced the school’s rich heritage and enduring educational values, which have been carefully preserved and refined across generations, forming a consistent and well-established foundation for learning.

Adding a valuable perspective, Mr Mark Glatman, a member of the Uppingham School Board of Trustees, shared his experience both as an alumnus and a parent of children educated at Uppingham UK. His reflections highlighted a supportive and structured environment in which students grow academically while also developing holistically. His insights offered families a clearer understanding of what it means to be part of the global Uppingham community.

In her address, Founding Headmistress Ms Kirsty J. Lowery outlined the school’s long-term vision and student journey. Beginning from the Foundation Stage through primary education, pupils are guided to build strong academic and personal foundations before progressing toward independence, critical thinking, and leadership. She emphasized that sports, the arts, and a holistic approach are integral to daily school life, ensuring well-rounded development for every child.

She affirmed, “At Uppingham Hung Yen, every child will be known, supported, and challenged to achieve their full potential.”

The school also shared its future development plans, including a complete K–12 pathway, with the Senior School set to open in 2027. This ensures continuity for families seeking a consistent and long-term educational experience.

Pastoral care and safeguarding were highlighted as core priorities, ensuring that every student is supported within a safe and nurturing environment.

The event concluded with an invitation for families to join as Founding Families, forming the first community of Uppingham Hung Yen—marking not just an introduction, but the beginning of a lasting educational journey.
