The school's first exhibition of learning brought together pupils, parents and teachers to celebrate their early experiences, while a commemorative time capsule preserved messages for future generations.

Uppingham School Hung Yen marked a meaningful milestone in its opening year with the “We Are Uppingham” Exhibition 2026, bringing its founding community together for a celebration of learning, shared experiences and the beginnings of a new school tradition.

Held at the school's campus in Ecopark, Hung Yen, the exhibition provided an opportunity for pupils to share their first learning experiences with parents and teachers. A central moment of the occasion was the creation of the Uppingham Hung Yen Time Capsule, containing personal messages intended for pupils who will become part of the school community ten years from now.

Preserving Today's Memories for Tomorrow's Pupils

One of the most meaningful elements of the exhibition was the time capsule ceremony, which invited members of the founding community to reflect on their hopes and aspirations for the school's future.

Pupils, parents and teachers contributed written messages addressed to future generations of Uppingham pupils, capturing their thoughts and experiences at the beginning of the school's journey.

Ms Kirsty Lowery and Dr Richard Maloney joined together to seal the capsule, preserving these messages as a record of the community's earliest chapter.

Beyond its symbolic significance, the time capsule offers a connection between the school's present and future. When revisited in years to come, these messages will provide a glimpse into the people, aspirations and experiences that helped shape the beginnings of Uppingham School Hung Yen.

Celebrating the First Exhibition of Learning

Following the time capsule ceremony, the focus turned to the pupils and their first exhibition of learning.

With parents and teachers joining the celebration, pupils had the opportunity to present their work, discuss classroom activities and reflect on the experiences and memories they had made since joining the school.

The exhibition placed pupils at the centre of the occasion, giving them an opportunity to communicate their ideas, recognise their progress and share their learning with the people who support them.

These experiences reflect an important aspect of holistic education: recognising not only what children learn, but also how they develop confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging through everyday school life.

The Beginning of a Shared School Story

For Uppingham School Hung Yen, the exhibition represented more than a celebration of the pupils' early learning experiences. It also recognised the important role of its founding families, teachers and pupils in establishing the character of a new school community.

The messages preserved in the time capsule, together with the children's first exhibition of learning, form part of a shared history that future generations will be able to look back upon.

As the school continues its journey, these early moments offer a reminder that an enduring school community is built through the relationships, experiences and contributions of the people who belong to it.

Uppingham School Hung Yen extends its sincere appreciation to its founding pupils, families and teachers for being part of this first chapter and helping to shape the school's story from the very beginning.
