Uppingham School Vietnam is in its final phase at Ecopark, set to complete within 12 months with UK-standard facilities, reflecting strong UK–Vietnam collaboration and growth in international education.

Uppingham School in Vietnam has officially entered its completion phase following a partnership signing ceremony held on August 8 at Ecopark, Hung Yen. The project is led by the Vietnam Education Foundation (VCE), which holds exclusive rights to develop the historic British school brand—renowned for nearly 450 years of liberal education—in Vietnam.

Situated on a 4.7-hectare site in the heart of Ecopark, the project’s structural construction has already been completed after more than two years of development by a joint venture between Ecopark Group and Digital Daesung, based on designs by Perkins Eastman. The next phase will be managed by a new joint venture formed by VCE, 20in20 Partners, and Uppingham School, focusing on final completion, operations, and long-term investment.

The campus will feature upgraded facilities aligned with UK standards, including a sports complex, performing arts spaces, football fields, and a modern library. Broadway Malyan has been appointed to lead the detailed design for this final phase, ensuring the campus reflects both innovation and strong community values.

At the ceremony, Pham Hop Pho, CEO of Vietnam Education Foundation Asset Management Company and Chairman of Uppingham Vietnam, highlighted that building a school worthy of the Uppingham name requires not only investment but also dedication from educators, designers, and partners across countries. The school’s philosophy draws inspiration from Edward Thring, a 19th-century headmaster who championed holistic education and helped shape modern sports in schools.

The project aims to complete construction within 12 months, followed by recruitment and admissions supported by community engagement activities such as sports and cultural events. The British Ambassador to Vietnam, Ian Frew, described the initiative as a strong example of UK–Vietnam collaboration.

This development also reflects the rapid growth of Vietnam’s international education sector. With around 17 million students nationwide, approximately 500,000 are enrolled in private and international schools. International schools alone generate an estimated USD 2 billion annually, with enrolment increasing by 35% and the number of schools rising by 23% between 2020 and 2025, according to ISC Research.
